Pinkie Pie is actually a pegasus.
Pinkie's wings move so fast that they can't be seen. (Like a hummingbird's, only faster.)
Pinkie's wings are moving at this super speed at all times, even when she's sleeping, thus requiring her vast intake of calories, namely sugar and sweets.
In fact, Pinkie's wings move so quickly, that they're slightly out of phase with the rest of reality, which is why they never hit anything.
Pinkie's Pinkie Sense is a result of a slight awareness of the momentary future in which her wings exist.

I believe that this theory can explain all of Pinkie's odd powers and abilities.

Ready to have your mind blown: (combination of fanfics and brony headcannon)

Pinkie Pie was actually Twilight Sparkle's imaginary friend. The combination of Rainbow Dash's first Sonic Rainboom and Twilight losing control of her powers during her entrance exam accidentally brought Pinkie Pie into existence. Neither ponies have any memory of each other prior to that event, but somehow they're connected. Pinkie can always find the missing book Twilight is looking for and she share's Twilight's intelligence (which she often hides) while retaining all of her reality warping abilities she had as Twilight's imaginary friend. Also, just as how her job was to make Twilight smile when she was her imaginary friend, Pinkie Pie literally needs smiles to exist. Her mental breakdown in Party of One was actually Pinkie Pie almost dying.

"And that's how Equestria was Made!"

Thanks,
Some bronies I met at a convention taught me how to play the headcannon game. You basically sit around and come up with mind blowing theories that are so good they should be cannon. It was always exciting whenever it came to Pinkie Pie.

In the Griffon Brushoff episode, what did she use to fly?

It's good. But it doesn't explain the deflating hair.

Well, her hair is just a part of her personality. When she is bubbly and happy, it's poofy and big. When she is sad, it deflates and becomes flat and dull, like her personality would state. *pushes glasses up on face* But, as for the balloon sound, that may always remain a scientific mystery. :iconindeedplz:

As a connoisseur of the Pie, I agree completely with this theory!
